BANGLADESH'S COMMUNITY RADIOS: WHAT THEY BROADCAST AND WHO LISTENS

In the age of globalization and ICTs revolution, conventional media are playing sine qua non role in providing news, information services, entertainment. Besides, some countries, community radios (hereafter CRs) contributing to positive changes grassroots governance development. Based on a reality, this paper tries unravel following research objectives i.e. i) get an overview program contents Bangladesh; ii) identify profiles listeners CRs Bangladesh. bid achieve that mixed method approach was followed. For quantitative data, survey used which followed by qualitative tools order triangulation research. The findings reveal there 18 Bangladesh they all sorts development at grassroots. It found most both comprised male female were very young 44% them students. A 40% respondents have SSC above level education. 70% listen using mobile phone. programmes included wide range developmental issues agriculture, fisheries, livestock, climate change, disaster mitigation, women empowerment, education, news newspaper, entertainment with music drama, special national international days, learning English, beautification cooking, for children minority people.
